A Brief History

ASF began in 1994 as an informal collective whom operated under the name, “Consortium for Values in Education & Action”.  Since then, the consortium has operated through the voluntary commitment of personal time and energy of it’s members, as well as the instrumental support from the agencies and association they work for.

In 2004, the consortium was incorporated as a Non-Profit Society under the name, “Alberta Safeguards Foundation”.  The ASF currently operates under the direction of a Board of Directors.  The ASF’s main focus thus far has been conducting workshops particular to Social Role Valorization  theory and other related consciousness raising events.  As well as workshops, the ASF has invested in leadership development, advocacy and social change efforts.
